Critical Acclaim: 95 pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate; 93 pts James Suckling.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes: A very pale color, which is more typical of French wines. Clear and bright, with hues verging on garnet-red. An intense bouquet of red fruity aromas of cherry and redcurrant, and of delicate floral notes of violet. Excellent on the palate, it is immediately clear that it has all the makings of a great wine, having the necessary elegance and finesse. Rich and lively with acidity, well-crafted tannins. To be enjoyed in the greatest vintages.
"Monteraponi follows a Burgundy-adjacent farming philosophy that seeks to carve out distinct identities for strong red and white wines. The top-shelf red from the estate is the organic 2018 Baron'Ugo, a blend of 90% Sangiovese with smaller parts Canaiolo and Colorino for more color and vibrant fruit flavors. This vintage delivers a very clean and polished execution, and there is plenty of freshness, thanks to vineyard positioning at a cool and breezy 560 meters in elevation on limestone alberese soils. The oak is woven in a delicate manner in this wine. Production is 6,600 bottles. This is a little treasure from Tuscany."- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
"A spicy and balanced red with lots of cherry and black-pepper aromas and flavors. Medium body. Integrated tannins and a fresh finish."- James Suckling.
Varietal: 90% Sangiovese, 7% Canaiolo and 3% Colorino.
