About the winery: Luigi Pira transformed the Serralunga d'Alba estate in the 1950s into a wine-growing business. The wines are the result of a journey through generations - from Luigi's grandparents to his granddaughters - a journey of traditions and devotion, of growth and an eye to the future. A journey that has taken place entirely in the generous grounds of Serralunga d'Alba. Today, the company is run not only by the Pira brothers, but also by Gianpaolo's family: his wife Tiziana and his daughters Annalisa and Elena. The family takes care of all the tasks: from taking care of the vineyards, through the delicate phase of vinification, all the way to tastings in the cellar.
Tasting Notes: "Fresh and sweet berry aromas with cherries and dark strawberries to the flowers and spices. It’s full-bodied with layers of fine tannins and intense fruit. The wood comes out a little now, but it’s so impressive nonetheless. Great vineyard. One for the cellar. Try after 2026."- James Suckling
"The 2017 Barolo Vignarionda is aromatic of cherry liqueur, pine, and balsamic. Generous with fruit and forward with its firm tannic grip, there is ripe red plum, tobacco, and porcini carved into the palate. A wine with great potential, hold 3-6 years and drink 2026-2046." -Jeb Dunnuck
