About the Winery: The Yangarra philosophy is to produce wines from our single-vineyard estate, that reflect an authentic sense of place. The property is 170 total hectares, of which nearly 90 hectares are planted to vine. The remaining 80 hectares are preserved for native vegetation and wildlife and is intended to enhance the symbiotic relationship between the vines and their natural environment. Yangarra’s combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in the moderate maritime Mediterranean environments.
Tasting notes: "Luscious fruit defines this 2020 King's Wood Shiraz, but it morphs through the middle palate with shades of meat, red licorice, dark chocolate and mulberry—it’s very sweet in character. There is blackberry, raspberry and licorice on the nose, however on day two it feels much softer and lighter, with deli meat, star anise, clove bud, green tea and layers of red apple, eucalypt and crushed granite. Kind of a loose, sandy disposition. Really impressive. Dappled and beautiful."- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
"Introducing 20% whole bunch into the ferment lifts the perfume and brightness of the clean, lean palate, but the real interest here is the svelte tannin profile. It transforms the expected traditional burly Australian Shiraz structure into a something more surprising, supple and elegant. The slender palate weight ensures that the fresh red fruits remain lively and especially vibrant. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2035"- Decanter.
"This vintage of King's Wood is densely packed with layers of savory herbs and spices, licorice root, succulent black cherry and blackberries, with ground pepper an a floral nuance. The palate, while still young, is juicy, fresh and linear, with a silky line of fruit and muscular, granular textured tannins. With poise alongside the power, this should cellar gracefully for another 10–15 years." - Wine Enthusiast.
"A juicy and savory red with white pepper, dried meat and dark fruits. Fresh and vivid. Medium to full body. Tensioned, tight and fresh finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. " -James Suckling.
"Full-bodied and firm, with good intensity to the blueberry and blackberry flavors at the core, with dried herbs, black pepper, loam and savory green olive and tobacco details. Drink now through 2030"- Wine Spectator.
