Winemaker's Tasting Notes: The particular soils from which our Brunello is born, their altitude, their exposure and the resulting microclimates, mean that the wine has intense aromas of undergrowth with evident red berry fruit and ripe cherry together with notes of taste-olfactory elegance resulting from this perfect combination of factors. The ruby color of young Brunello fades as it evolves, revealing light garnet notes that change depending on the age of the wines. The structure of the wine is rich in dry extract which reaches up to 32/33 g/l, its tannins are present but soft and its persistence in the mouth is long. Our Brunello pairs very well with roasted red meats and game skewers and the older vintages also become excellent as a meditation wine.
"This boutique estate owns just four hectares of vineyards on the southeastern side of Montalcino. Lifted and animated scents of violet, sage and rosemary permeate a backdrop of wild berries. The palate is vivacious, tending towards the red currants and blood orange spectrum. Well-formed tannins grant balanced support, building steadily towards the finish. While I would give this a bit more time in the bottle to come together, I don’t expect 2018 will be one of Salvioni’s longest lived vintages. Fewer than 10,000 bottles produced."- Decanter.
