About the Wine: This is a selection of the best fruit available from the old vines 9-hectare (22-acre) Canajas vineyard, located at 465 meters above sea level, within the 300-hectare Ygay Estate, in Rioja Alta. Its soil is mainly iron-clay, with a stony topsoil, wich favours an optimal ripening. They select bunches with small berries, in order to limit production up to 1 kilogram per vine.
Winemaker Tasting Notes: The nose is defined by deep ripe black fruit with hints of black spices, balsamic and mineral aromas. Full-bodied, juicy tannins and endless spicy finish. Powerful, round and solid. A Dalmau with strong character, more concentrated and expressive compared to its predecessors.
"Blackberry and ripe-fruit aromas with black licorice and dark chocolate. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy-textured tannins and a long, flavorful finish that is so precise and polished. Great length. Best ever? Cabernet sauvignon, graciano and tempranillo. Drink or hold."- James Suckling.
Serving Suggestion: Marinated venison, with juniper-scented chocolate sauce and berries; beef sirloin steak tartar.
Varietal: 80% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Graciano.
