Crescere Proprietary Red Blend 2019

Critical Acclaim: 95pts Jeb Dunnuck.

About the Winery:  The remote 500 acre estate was originally purchased in 1994 and Joe and Elena began an ambitious planting program that was completed in 2000.  Since that time the fruit has been sold to many of the most highly regarded wineries in Sonoma County. The family, along with their vineyard crew, currently farm the 150 acres under vine, keeping only a tiny percentage of the finest grapes on the estate for Crescere. Crescere secured renown winemaker Philippe Melka. Philippe has worked with some of the most highly regarded wineries in the New World, including Bryant Family, Dalla Valle, Vineyard 29, Dana Estate, Lail Vineyards, Brand, Gemstone and Hundred Acre.  Philippe was drawn to Crescere because of the family history and possibility of doing something both remarkable and authentic with the Reynoso Family.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes:  The first vintage not to be lead by Cabernet and yet this wine is super dark, but not brooding. Notes of plum and blackberry marry with earthy tones of fresh tilled soil, tar, and granite and undertones of sweet tobacco and faint hint of basil and vanilla showing up after it’s opened up a bit flowing into expressions of lilac, apricot jam, fresh raspberry and a tinge of cooked wild rice. Intoxicating to say the least. The palate opens to blackberry, tobacco, plum skin, balsamic and fresh tomato. Tannins feel supple and leathery.

"The 2019 Proprietary Red Blend is based on 42% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest equal parts Syrah and Petit Verdot. It’s an eclectic blend but, man, does it work, offering beautiful red and black fruits, some chocolate, spicy oak, and mineral aromas and flavors, medium to full body, and a great finish. Drink this expressive, seamless, exuberant red over the coming 7-8 years or so. Drinking window 2022-2030" -Jeb Dunnuck.

Varietal: 42% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot and 11% Syrah.
