Critical Acclaim: 96 pts Decanter; 93 pts Vinous.
Winemaker Tasting Notes: This wine has a nose with a beautiful mineral definition, with hints of sous-bois underneath the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, slightly chalky, long and tender with bright focus on the finish.
Decanter Tasting Notes: "Thibault Liger-Belair has produced one of the tighter, more serious expression of this celebrated Premier Cru in 2018, finding texture, tannin and structure in his 74-year-old plantings. Hail halved the crop here, which may have been a bonus as far as quality as concerned, because this has real poise, balance and intensity with spice and tobacco notes and underlying minerality." Drinking window 2026-2036
About the Winery: All the vines of the Domaine have been in the family since the 18th century. The Companies C.Marey and Comte Liger-Belair were created in 1720 in Nuits-Saint-Georges and listed in the Lyon Stock Exchange in 1923. They were among the most important wine growing and trading houses in Burgundy. Confident in the quality of its harvests and in the one of its wines, the family has worked hard to enhance the Domaine in acquiring the best Cuvées and in taking care of their distribution both in France and abroad.
Varietal: Pinot Noir.
