Critical Acclaim: 91 pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate; 91 pts James Suckling
About the Winery: Vinos Del Viento are original, limited production, high altitude wines grown with passion in Spain. It is the brainchild of Michael Cooper, a native of Santa Barbara who made Spain his home in 2002. Michael prides himself in being a “vine-hunter”- he has made it his mission to seek out high-altitude, old-vine, dry-farmed vineyards, which sometimes house century-old indigenous vines focusing on Garnacha and Carinena.
Tasting Notes: "Ripe and tangy nose with red cherries and strawberries with a hint of stewed herbs, stones and white pepper. Crunchy and juicy on the palate with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Garnacha. No sulfites added. Drink now."- James Suckling.
"The perfumed and heady 2020 Los Ángeles was produced with Garnacha from a 50-year-old plot that is worked biodynamically. It fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in new and used barrels of different sizes and origins for one year. It's juicy, aromatic, quite expressive, showy and ripe at 15% alcohol, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins and a sense of high ripeness as the wine sat in the glass, developing notes of soy sauce and something earthy. Quite unusual. 900 bottles were filled in April 2022."- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
Varietal: Grenache.
