Winemaker's Tasting Notes: This Rose, the beautiful pale pink of a summer sunset, greets the taster with a perfume of honeydew and bubblegum. The palate is juicy and expressive tasting of strawberries and apricot, finishing with the clean minerality of slate.
"This 100% Sangiovese rosé comes from the 32-hectare Eakle Ranch in the easternmost stretches of Pope Valley. Aged entirely in stainless steel and picked almost like sparkling wine grapes at 3.1 pH. The result is an agile, fresh and delicate pink wine, offering up bright red berry fruits along with watermelon and strawberry. There’s a phenolic bitterness on the palate, like biting into crunchy red apple skin, and the acidity is simply mouthwatering. Founded by Ed Haus in 1897, the Pope Valley Winery today is owned by the Eakle family, and Jean Hoefliger is the consultant winemaker."- Decanter.
