Critical Acclaim: 96 pts Vinous; 93 pts Wine Spectator; 91 pts James Suckling.
Tasting Notes: "Balsamic aromas and flavors of eucalyptus, juniper and pine lead off, backed by notes of macerated plum, cherry and licorice. Beefy, bolstered by thick, dusty tannins. This is closed up today but finishes long. Best from 2023 through 2046."- Wine Spectator.
"Elegant sweet fruit aromas with fresh but cooked strawberry, cherry gum with hints of fresh wood. Pretty velvet texture with roasted red capsicum, finish with dry mushroom, gentle tannins. Drink or hold."- James Suckling.
About the Winery: Historically, the vineyard is divided into Vigna Pianpolvere and Vigna Pianpolvere Soprano, the exclusive property of Rocche dei Manzoni. The name “Pianpolvere Soprano” dates back to the end of the 18th century when Napoleon Bonaparte built a powder magazine on this plot. In a later period, it became ecclesiastical property and at the beginning of the 1900s it was purchased by the Fenocchio family who vinified the grapes for sixty-eight years. Since 1998 it has been owned by the Migliorini family, already producers in Monforte d'Alba at Podere Rocche dei Manzoni.
Varietal: Nebbiolo.
